United Nations Women’s Guild Elects New Board for 2026

by Sarah Jozelle Rojas

Vienna, 12 November 2025 — The United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) held its Annual General Meeting today at the United Nations in Vienna, during which members elected the new Board for 2026. Among those re-elected was Maria Zelda (Marizel) Rojas, Board Member of the United Nations Correspondents Association Vienna (UNCAV), who will serve a second term as First Vice President of the UNWG.
Rojas, known for her dynamic leadership and passionate commitment to humanitarian and social causes, has played a key role in strengthening partnerships and promoting community engagement within the Guild. Her re-election reflects the members’ confidence in her continued dedication to advancing the UNWG’s mission of helping children in need around the world.
Founded more than five decades ago, the United Nations Women’s Guild is a volunteer organization composed of spouses of UN staff and members of the international community in Vienna. The Guild’s charitable initiatives provide life-changing support to disadvantaged children across the globe—funding education, healthcare, nutrition, and welfare projects in developing countries.
As an active representative of UNCAV—an association of international journalists reporting on the work of the United Nations in Vienna—Rojas also brings the support of this organization to the UNWG. UNCAV works closely with the Women’s Guild, particularly in covering charitable events such as the annual International Festival and Charity Bazaar, thereby helping to enhance the visibility and promotion of UNWG projects.
As part of its annual fundraising activities, the UNWG will once again host the much-anticipated International Festival and Charity Bazaar on Saturday, 29 November 2025, at the Austria Center Vienna. The public is invited to take part under the theme “Join Hands to Help Children”—an opportunity to experience international cuisine, national goods, and cultural entertainment under one roof.
Visitors can look forward to the popular tombola, offering attractive prizes while supporting a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the Bazaar will go directly to child-focused projects supported by the UNWG worldwide. For more information, visit UNWG Home
