World Cotton Day 2023
On the 4th of October 2023,the UNIDO has hosted in Vienna, the World Cotton(WCD) day 2023 jointly with the FAO- Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN.
The IAEA ,the WTO and other international organizations were cooperating in the event.
The WCD was established in 2019 by Benin,Burkina Faso,Chad, and Mali.They are cotton producers.The aim of the day is to raise awareness on the need for value addition and market access for cotton and cotton-based products from LDCs. The UN officially recognized WCD as international day.Events take place worldwide,but the main event is being organized by one of the principal development partners,on a rotating basis.
This year WCD is held under the theme “Making cotton fair and sustainable for all,from farm to fashion”
Ministers, directors of international 0rganisations,development partners,the private sector representatives,were participating on the event in Vienna.
The program consisted of a high-level plenary session of discussion,all day exhibition,and fashion show.
