Opening of the 34th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ)<\/strong><\/h6>\n
On May 19, 2025, the 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) was inaugurated in Vienna. The session was chaired by Ambassador Jos\u00e9 Antonio Zabalgoitia Trejo, Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations in Vienna, and was officially opened by Ghada Waly, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), alongside other high-level speakers.<\/h6>\n
The 34th session brought together participants from Member States, United Nations entities, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of civil society. This year\u2019s thematic discussion focused on\u00a0\u201cAddressing new, emerging, and evolving forms of crime, including offenses affecting the environment, the smuggling of commercial goods, and the trafficking of cultural property, as well as other crimes targeting cultural heritage.\u201d\u00a0Further details were outlined in the\u00a0Thematic Discussion Guide.<\/h6>\n

This year, the discussions at the 34th session of the CCPCJ focused on new and emerging forms of crime, including offenses that impact the environment, smuggling of commercial goods, and trafficking of cultural property.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
